About Javabean

Javabean are the friendliest speciality coffee roasters in Norfolk. A small business fuelled by the passion for great coffee, we are proud to offer a vast selection of premium gourmet coffee beans, fresh coffee subscriptions and high quality coffee brewing equipment. We source our green coffee beans from reputable sources, and offer a varied selection of flavours to please almost any palate. A large proportion of our coffee beans are certified as Fair Trade, Rainforest Alliance and Soil Association Standard Organic. We have produced a series of simple coffee brewing guides to help get you started on your gourmet coffee journey. Take a look through and see how simple brewing speciality coffee really is.

Our Coffees

All our speciality coffee beans are roasted fresh to order in our traditional drum roasting machine. Coffee beans start to degrade in quality after being roasted, therefore we keep very little roasted coffee beans in stock. We’re the coffee bean supplier who demands exceptional flavour from our coffees. We’ve included tasting notes on our coffee bag labels, these are a guide and you may find your taste buds discover hints of flavours we hadn’t picked up on. This is all part of the fun discovery of speciality coffee beans.

We roast coffee beans from South America, Central America, Africa, India and the Far East. Growing conditions vary across the planet with differences in altitude and soil affecting growth and development, which is why there are so many individual coffee varieties available. Higher-altitude coffees tend to have a denser structure and are a harder bean than lower-altitude coffee beans.

Processing green coffee beans also has a prominent effect on the resulting flavour profile of the roasted coffee. Dry-processed (natural) coffee beans are harvested and then dried with the coffee cherry still attached to the bean. Wet-processed (washed) coffees have the cherry removed before the drying process. Aged coffee beans such as Monsooned Malabar from India and Old Brown Java from Indonesia are left to age for periods lasting up to several years, reducing the acidity of the coffee greatly and developing a uniquely musky flavour profile which many coffee enthusiasts love.

Coffee Subscriptions

Each variety of our gourmet coffee beans are available as a one-time purchase or as a coffee subscription. Our subscription coffee service is perfect for those looking to enjoy freshly roasted coffee delivered on a regular basis. The thought of waking up without a cup of fresh coffee simply doesn’t bear thinking about! Coffee subscriptions are entirely customisable, allowing you to pause, change or cancel at any time.
